Model repair, refurbishment and service

Keep a useful model in good condition
A physical scale model is an investment that can continue serving its audience for years. Handling, travel and display can take a toll. We can assess cleaning, damaged components and refurbishment work before recommending an approach.
An example at Mueller State Park
At the Mueller State Park Visitor Center, our work included repairing a rock in an exhibit and giving the model a general cleanup. We completed the work on site in an afternoon.
Show us what needs attention
Photos of the whole model and close-up views of the affected areas are a helpful place to begin. We will talk through the materials, access to the model and whether work in the shop or on site would suit the project.
Repairing a display or updating a design
Repair and a design update are different jobs. For XTI Aircraft, we restored the body, rewired electrical components and reworked the base of an existing demonstration model. At Austin Mueller, we measured the existing display, matched its finish and made replacement buildings for an updated development plan.
Tell us whether the problem is damage, dirt, a lighting fault or a change in what the model needs to show. Include photographs of the whole piece, the affected areas and the display base. If replacement components are needed, any current drawings or design files will help establish what has changed.
Access and transport also matter. Some work can be carried out at the display location, while other repairs need the shop. We assess the model and discuss the practical approach rather than assuming it needs a full rebuild. Tell us where it is installed and whether an event or presentation sets the repair deadline.
